John Scirocco, Sr. began offering property & casualty insurance in 1950 when he first opened Auf Der Heide Agency in West New York, NJ. By 1987, the agency had relocated to North Bergen and Scirocco Associates was formed.

Since that time, John M. Scirocco, Jr. and his partner Cecilia A. Driza have grown the agency into a thriving industry leader. Scirocco Group is listed as one of the Top 100 Independent Property and Casualty Agencies in the country and has been honored with the prestigious designation of “Best Practices” Agency by the IIABA.

Feeling strongly about giving back to the community, Scirocco Group raises funds each year for numerous charities and organizations including Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ, Toys for Tots, AIDS Walk, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Associated Insurance Partners continues to grow. In October of 2008, the company incorporated 55 year old Young Agency of Audubon, NJ, into the fold.

In 1926, The Fleming Agency became one of four founding agencies appointed by Selective Insurance. James C. Jamieson purchased The Fleming Agency in 1947, and began building a family business – Fleming & Jamieson.

The business has seen transition through the years. James’ younger brother, Ronald, joined the business
in 1949. A short time later, the company changed its name to The Jamieson Insurance Agency. When James passed away suddenly in 1957, it was younger brother Ronald that took the reins. Then, in 1985, Ronald‘s son, Ron, took over for his dad. The company changed its name one last time to Jamieson Insurance & Financial Services. In 1999, the agency became the first independent agency appointed by Allstate New Jersey Insurance Company.

Known throughout Sussex, Warren, and Morris counties for treating their clients like family, the Jamiesons have been a fixture in the business community for more than 60 years. In 2006, the company was acquired by Scirocco Group. Ron Jamieson has since retired, but the company remains in the same location, retains the same staff, and staying true to its roots — treats all their clients like family.

Four generations later, the Nilson family has joined Scirocco Group as Nilson-Scirocco Insurance Agency. The company offers an extensive line of insurance products through the Nilson offices in Morristown
and Sparta, NJ.

Seizing opportunity, Jack Zisa, John Scirocco and Cecilia Driza purchased select accounts from a
small, well-established agency in Jersey City, NJ. Hudson County was the perfect place to bring
their vision to fruition.

With the agency name changed to Regional Risk Managers, and the location moved to North Bergen, NJ, the three began building a business based on their experience and strengths: Construction, Government, and Employee Benefits. Never forgetting the original policyholders, they rounded out the agency’s offerings and began to build a reputation within the construction industry, amongst developers of habitational buildings and condominiums throughout New Jersey and food manufacturers in both New Jersey and New York.

Public entities throughout the state look to Regional Risk Managers for consultation and assistance in managing their unique risks. Regional Risk acts as Sub-Fund Administrator for the New Jersey School Board Association Insurance Group.

Summit Agency was founded by Benjamin Slapin and his wife, Ruth in 1952, and merged into the partnership of Slapin-Lieb & Co. in 1958.

By 1986, the business was back in the hands of the Slapin family with Slapin’s sons, Bill and Hal, at the helm. Both musicians, the brothers left their music careers behind and took the business to new heights — orchestrating tremendous growth for the company by competing with national brokers or larger regional firms for international accounts and companies listed on the New York, American, and NASDAQ stock exchanges.

Slapin-Lieb was acquired by Scirocco Group in 2009. With an office in Springfield, NJ, and at Scirocco Group's Hasbrouck Heights, NJ headquarters, Slapin-Lieb & Co. has added a wealth of experience in Manufacturing, Distribution, Engineering, Real Estate, Government, University and Political Clubs to the Scirocco brand.

1970 was not an easy year for most 18 to 25 year old men. Bernie Kazer was a Seton Hall graduate student driving a truck to earn money for school. With 1-A draft status, it appeared Bernie was headed for Vietnam, so he was not expecting much from an interview with Prudential Insurance Company. Thirty-nine years later, Bernie serves as President of Trans-General Insurance Group, a division of Scirocco Group.

Trans-General was formed in 2002 to provide hands-on care for Scirocco's specialized risks, which included Trucking and Scaffolding. In 2006, Trans-General's scope was broadened with the development of a unique Auto Dealers Program.

Trans-General actively participates in raising funds for Allegro Schools for Autism, PA Lamendola Scholarship and the Augie Open which benefits the Tomorrow Children's Fund.
